A small boatshop in the heart of the Adirondacks, since 1986, Mason Smith have been building the unique rowing/sailing/motoring Adirondack Goodboat (over 62 in use) and restoring valuable Adirondack guideboats, Rushton lapstrake cedar boats, wood-canvas canoes and an occasional wooden outboard or inboard runabout or larger sailboat. The Goodboats and Chipmunk Canoes are available at half-price in complete kit form, or at any stage of completion. Opportunities occur for people to come and work with Mason to build their own Goodboats, build kit boats of other designers, or apprentice.

John M. Karbott Boat Building specializes in the custom construction and repair of wooden boats. Rather than offering just one or two particular boats, John custom builds what you want. He has experience in constructing many boats from simple flat bottom skiffs to more elaborate and elegant lapstrake and carvel planked rowing and sailing craft, using both traditional and modern methods and materials. You may provide your own plans, or select from the many designs available to John. With more than 30 years of experience in maintaining and repairing wooden boats from 8' to 40', many of which were used for lobster fishing, Karbott has demostrated the skill required to built some truly classic rowing and sailing designs as well as work skiffs and commercial fishing boats.

Walter Baron of Old Wharf Dory has building boats in Wellfleet, Massachusetts for over 20 years. He has built more than 100 small boats, ranging in size from 7' to 35', from the totally non-practical - a "spirit boat" for an art installation - to Simmons Sea skiffs to commercial boats used hard every day.
